Primary Medical Uses

  • Heavy Menstrual Bleeding (Menorrhagia): This is the most common use. It helps reduce the amount of blood lost during periods by stabilizing the clots in the lining of the uterus.

  • Surgery and Dental Procedures: Used to prevent or reduce bleeding during and after operations, especially in patients with clotting disorders (like hemophilia) or those undergoing prostate, bladder, or orthopedic surgery.

  • Nosebleeds (Epistaxis): Prescribed to stop persistent or recurring nosebleeds.

  • Traumatic Injuries: Used in emergency medicine to control internal or external bleeding after a serious injury.

  • Hereditary Angioedema: Helps prevent or treat the periodic severe swelling of the throat or skin in people with this rare genetic condition.

  • Melasma (Off-label): In some cases, dermatologists prescribe low doses of Tranexamic Acid to help lighten dark skin patches.
