Description
Primary Uses
-
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): Treats chronic heartburn and “acid reflux” by preventing stomach acid from backing up into the esophagus.
-
Erosive Esophagitis: Used to heal the lining of the food pipe (esophagus) if it has been damaged or “eroded” by stomach acid.
-
Peptic Ulcers: Helps heal stomach and duodenal ulcers. It is often used alongside antibiotics to kill H. pylori bacteria, a common cause of ulcers.
-
NSAID-Induced Ulcers: Prevents and treats stomach ulcers in people who must take long-term pain medications (like Ibuprofen or Naproxen), which can irritate the stomach.
-
Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: A rare condition where the stomach produces extreme amounts of acid.
How to Take It
-
Timing: For best results, take it at least 1 hour before a meal, preferably in the morning.
-
Administration: Swallow the tablet whole. Do not crush, chew, or break it, as this destroys the gastro-resistant coating that protects the medicine from stomach acid.
-
Duration: It may take 1–4 days to feel the full effect. Even if you feel better quickly, complete the full course prescribed by your doctor.
